NORMAC SOLVENT BASED SPRAYABLE URETHANE SYSTEMS

These systems are available as kits consisting of two components, Part “A” the resin or iso, and Part “B” the curative. They are packaged into kits by weight not volume corresponding roughly to 1 Litre ( Quart) kits, 4 Litre (Gallon) kits, 20 Litre (5-Gallon) kits and 200 Litre (55 gallon drum) kits.

Normac solvent based sprayable urethanes are ideal for those who wish to learn about spraying urethane without the large investment required for 100% solids based urethanes. These products can be applied through inexpensive (US$200.00 to $300.00) gravity fed air spray guns or electric airless spray guns. See “Procedures for Applying Normac Solvent Based Urethanes” for detailed information regarding spray equipment and application procedures.

The advantage of the solvent based systems is the ability to spray small, hard to reach articles such as vibratory feeder bowls, small diameter pipe, elbows, pumps, and impellors. You can spray as little as 100 grams whereas 100% solids systems are not economical to apply unless the work requires a minimum of 25 gallons or more. This is because the time spent setting up and cleaning the 100% solids system costs more than the work itself. Furthermore the large tip size and pressure required to successfully apply 100% solids materials make spraying small articles all but impossible.

NORMAC PLURAL COMPONENT 100% SOLIDS SPRAYABLE URETHANE SYSTEMS

These coatings are 100% solids versions of our solvent based sprayable urethane systems. Because of their high reactivity (pot life = 30 seconds) they must be applied through heated plural component spray equipment. The heat is necessary to break the viscosity of the materials so that atomization (spraying) and good mix can occur. The spray gun we use is an air purge type with dynamic mixing. This eliminates the use of solvent to clean lines and gun after each spray application. Cleaning solvents are only used to clean gun parts at the end of the day and to purge spray hoses and equipment for long term storage.

Our 100% solids Urethane Coating Systems are packaged by weight in 200 Litre/55 gallon drum kits consisting of Part A (the resin or iso) and Part B (the curative). Colouring is added only to the Part B.

The advantages to using 100% solids urethane coating systems are faster productivity (faster build per coat and drying times), environmentally friendly (no solvents), and less costly than the solvent based systems.

PLURAL COMPONENT 100% SOLIDS SPRAYABLE POLYUREA SYSTEMS

In a continuing effort to provide our customer base with the latest coating technology Normac offers an extensive range of lower cost Polyurea based coating systems. Because of their fast reactivity times, 8 to 12 seconds, they must be applied through heated plural component spray equipment similar to that of our 100% Solvents Sprayable Urethane Coatings. However, the application equipment is somewhat lesser in cost as they are all 1:1 ratio systems. Spray guns manufactured by Probler, Gusmer, and Isotherm are used for application.

While Polyureas have good abrasion resistance they do not compare to urethanes. However in containment, concrete protection and other non-abrasive applications the Polyureas will provide years of economical service. Since Polyureas are of the same chemical family as Urethanes their chemical resistance is about the same with some exception of our NR-6511D which has a broader ph range tolerance.

Polyureas have the same advantages as our 100% Solids Urethane Systems, environmentally friendly, no solvent usage, fast application times and lower costs than conventional coating systems.

NORMAC LOW TEMPERATURE URETHANE CASTING SYSTEMS

Normac formulates a series of standard low temperature cure 100% solids urethane casting systems for companies that do not have the capability to process conventional urethane casting resins. Off-the-shelf formulations as well as custom formulations are available.

NORMAC URETHANE REPAIR COMPOUNDS

Normac offers a number of 2 part 100% solids, non-shrinking, urethane based repair compounds in the form of grouts or puttys packaged in cans or convenient to use cartridge dispensing systems. These products are excellent for the repair of damaged elastomeric products such as rubber and urethane linings, conveyor belt, and pulley lagging.

NORMAC  ADHESIVES AND PRIMERS

Normac offers a range of adhesives and primers used to bond our various Sprayable Urethanes, Polyureas, Castable Urethanes and Urethane repair materials to a wide variety of substrates.
